If you are experiencing wrinkles or would like to reduce wrinkles then there are several suggestive measures that I am sure you’ve heard of like staying out of the sun, keeping your skin moisturized and using a high quality anti-wrinkle product.
But, did you know that there is something else that is really simple that you can do to prevent wrinkles and it has to do with your sleep position.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), sleeping in certain positions night after night leads to sleep lines -these are wrinkles that become infused into the surface of the skin and don’t disappear once you’re up.
Sleeping in certain positions, especially on your stomach can lead to more pronounced wrinkles. For instance, sleeping on your side increases wrinkles on your cheeks and chin, while sleeping face-down gives you a furrowed brow.
You can stop these wrinkle formations by sleeping on your back as well as incorporating the following into your sleep routine:
1. Varying Sleep Positions
There is no argument that the best way to prevent wrinkles is to sleep on your back, but sometimes it’s not easy to do. To help get you in the habit of sleeping on your back try tucking pillows around your shoulders. You can also use a pillow under your knees to take any pressure off your lower back.
2. Good Quality Pillow
Avoid sleeping on cotton pillows because they will press your skin into the crease of the pillow leading to creases (wrinkles) on your face.
3. Feather Pillows
Feather pillows are soft and fluffy and allow your face to melt in the pillow.
4. Sleep Pillows
These great pillows help to improve the quality of your sleep, they allow you to sleep on your side while taking the pressure of the front of your face.
5. Satin Pillowcases
Great at helping to decrease sleep wrinkles. Satin pillowcases help to keep your skin flat by allowing your face to slide across the pillow minimizing skin wrinkling, as opposed to allowing it to crease in the way that a fabric pillowcase would.
6. Apply Moisturizer To Face
Moisturizer is great at keeping the skin hydrated and locking in moisture, apply it at night to help keep your skin smooth.
Sleep wrinkles can be avoided by following a few easy steps, as it is much easier to prevent wrinkles than it is to spend time and money trying to repair them.
